CORK

Cork is a natural consistent material very dear in portuguese culture. Its soft touch conveys quietness, making it a perfect surface to meditate. At the core of the cabin the tree of life is celebrated in cork as the connection point between mind and earth.

From this focus point one gradually gets involved in the landscape as light and shadows come from the sides and the view is revealed ahead. As weather and mood changes guests can either nest inside the cabin, open the window front to bring the outside in, or be outside in deep contact with nature.

The interior space is formed by two areas divided by sliding doors: vestibule and main room. Equipment and personal items are stored in the cabin vestibule to allow a comfortable use of the main space.

The flexible-use wide space is achieved by using cross laminated timber panels as structure. This sustainable engeniered wood meets both raw material beauty as strength and fire-safety criteria. All materials and construction methods were chosen by having in mind a low environmental impact.
