DORNES House

Dornes House is a detached single-family residence set in a privileged location near the Zêzere River. The project was conceived with the purpose of providing an environment of rest, leisure and connection with nature, emphasising the strong relationship between the built space and the lush green surroundings characteristic of Portugal’s interior landscape.

The house features a modular wooden structure with an orthogonal composition, resulting in spacious, simple and functionally balanced interiors. This structural solution reinforces the sustainable and natural character of the construction, allowing it to integrate harmoniously into the surrounding landscape.

The outdoor areas, including the swimming pool and several covered and uncovered zones, were designed to promote a continuous experience with the environment, encouraging outdoor living and enjoyment of nature. The use of natural materials and the close relationship with the setting are fundamental pillars of this project.
